Tuition Funding and Education Support
The Mississippi Center for Advancement of Prehospital Medicine’s mission is to improve workforce stability through recruitment, education and grant funding of projects to reduce or eliminate the cost of tuition for students seeking a career in EMS in the state of Mississippi.
Mississippi EMS Mental Health and Wellness Course
The Mississippi Center for Advancement of Prehospital Medicine’s has been awarded a nearly $200,000 grant through the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration. As a result, MSCAPM is partnering with physicians at the Mississippi State Hospital to develop and deliver an EMS specific course on Mental Health Wellness for our providers. This course will be delivered in person in the north, central and south of Mississippi. To ensure easy access for all providers, these course will also have an option for online delivery for those who are not able to attend in person. During this course, participants will learn the signs of mental health stress and learn successful coping mechanisms along with resources available in times of need.
EMT Education
MSCAPM has currently partnered with the Mississippi Health Care Alliance and the Mississippi EMS Tag Fund to secure funding for delivery of EMT education for High School students who have a career interest in healthcare.
AEMT Education
MSCAPM has partnered with the Mississippi Health Care Alliance to secure resources for delivery of Advanced EMT education to courses offered at participating community colleges and workforce training.
