The Path to Becoming an EMS Professional
Mississippi’s EMS system is structured to help you grow as a professional while serving your community. Explore the different levels of EMS certification and find your calling:
EMTs are the first responders who provide essential care at the scene of an emergency and during transport to a medical facility. This entry-level certification opens the door to a rewarding career in EMS.
AEMTs build on the skills of EMTs, with advanced training in administering medications, intravenous therapy, and more. This level allows you to handle more complex medical emergencies.
As a Paramedic, you’ll be at the forefront of pre-hospital care, equipped with advanced skills in cardiac monitoring, intubation, and administering a wide range of medications. Paramedics are leaders in the field and are vital to patient survival in critical situations.
Critical Care Paramedics are the elite of EMS. With specialized training in handling the most critical patients, including those in air or ground transport to advanced care facilities, you’ll operate at the highest level of emergency care.
